Do you like working with numbers? Are you Analytical? Working as a Rates and Pricing Analyst will allow you to take your love for numbers and your analytical skills and apply that knowledge directly within our transport operation team.
As an Analyst you will be responsible for being accountable to provide a full range of traffic services to both internal and external customers. Responsible for analyzing customer data and financial data to assess rate quote profitability and make recommendations. The focus of this position is to identify opportunity within individual shipments, accounts, commodities, and locations/lanes for improved profitability combined with competitive pricing.
You will also be responsible for:
Audit rates in the computer system in order to determine profitability of individual shipments, accounts, commodities or locations/lanes.
Complete costing of accounts to ensure profitability. This is to be completed to assist the Rates Manager and traffic department. Utilize MS Excel to summarize and analyze data (operational parameters, profitability)
Development of standardized costing and pricing templates for spot quotes and new business quotes. Customization of pricing templates for complex freight moves.
Maintenance of cost data bases for pricing components, i.e. driver costs, dock costs, agent and interline costs.
Development of a customer assist pricing template.
Assist in recommendations to operations with respect to processes that impact the collection of data for analysis
Other duties as assigned and required
Minimum 3 years previous experience in a similar role in asset based transport environment.
Must have knowledge of rates and rate structures. Familiar with LTL & Truckload rates.
Requires strong computer skills using Microsoft Excel, Word and the Internet related to transportation. Familiar with Link Logistics and Truck Mate.
Strong mathematical aptitude
Extremely strong analytical skills
Strong Customer Service skills. Ability to deal with customers in a proactive manner with positive results.
Excellent negotiation skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
