 We currently have an opening in our Calgary Corporate Office for a:
 Supervisor, Payroll
Reporting to the Senior Director of Total Rewards, the Payroll Supervisor oversees a group of payroll professionals, ensuring that all payroll processes are executed appropriately and in a timely manner. The Payroll Supervisor operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues and continuously looks for improvements in payroll processes and designs, and implements those initiatives. 
Responsibilities:
* Interprets day-to-day business objectives and preparation/execution of operational practices/work programs. Overall accountability for union and non union payrolls for US and Canada
* Perform pre and post audits for all SAP-HR payrolls as well as audit all payroll previews for US and Canadian ADP payrolls
* Approval of all off cycle payments, online approval requests and online Journal Entry approvals using SAP-HR.
* Review and approve monthly GL account reconciliations and ensure ongoing maintenance of HR GL accounts.  Review of all tax liabilities and reconciliations to CRA or IRS on a pay period, monthly, quarterly and annual basis as required.
* Oversee investigation and set up of new States as required by business.
* Coordination of payroll requirements and special taxation for International and Cross Border employee population, as well as Board of Directors.
* Continual review of SOX requirements, ongoing audit implementations and performance of all internal and external audits as requested.
* Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts in matters relating to business requirements and process enhancements
* Lead and coordinate SAP-HR testing and quality control initiatives
* Oversight and coordination of any assigned project initiatives as determined by the HR strategy and/or payroll best practice implementations
* Ensure team members acquire necessary skills and performance attributes, in line with business and personal developmental needs
* Compile budget requirements for annual planning.
 
Selection Criteria:
* CPM (Certified Payroll Manager) certificate with the Canadian Payroll Association.
* 7 - 10 years of payroll related experience, with 2 – 3 years within a supervisory capacity
* Knowledge of US Payroll Legislation, Compliance and Processing experience as well as knowledge of US Federal and State Tax reporting requirements
* SAP-HR systems experience
* Broad knowledge of Year End and New Year requirements for both Canada and US, including complex reporting of taxable benefits.
* International Payroll experience with a background in taxation equalization processes.
* Demonstrate effective leadership skills, coaching abilities and project management experience.
* Ability to manage within a fast paced, ever changing work environment
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an emphasis on customer service are required.
* Be able to work effectively in a team environment as well as well-developed organizational skills with a keen eye for detail is a required skill for this role.
* ADP Pay @ Work and ADP PayExpert experience would be considered an asset.
